How each rating is worked out

The rating for each operator listed here gives the most weight to the conditions attached to any offer, such as the wagering requirement, the games it excludes, and how easy the terms are to find and read, rather than to the headline promise itself. An offer that reads well but hides its conditions, or sets a wagering figure few readers could realistically clear, is marked down more than one that states its terms plainly, even where that second offer looks less generous at first glance. Licensing status and how clearly it is disclosed also carry real weight: an operator that is upfront about its regulator, or honest about the absence of one, is treated more favourably than one that leaves the reader to guess. Together these weightings favour operators who put the reader in a position to decide for themselves, over those who lead with the most attractive headline.
